Kinship Center Celebrates 35 Years of Operation

Kinship Center is celebrating its 35th year of providing adoption, foster care, relative caregiver, and mental health services to children and families on the Central Coast. Founded in 1984 by co-founders Carol Bishop and Carol Biddle, Kinship Center has gone from a three-person agency run out of a three-bedroom apartment, to a statewide agency, now a member of Seneca Family of Agencies, with more than a thousand employees.

“Carol Biddle and I worked at Children’s Home Society of California, and as the agency began to shut its doors, we thought to ourselves ‘Why not start our own agency? How hard could that be?’ That turned out to be far more difficult than we anticipated, but with the help of some very dedicated community member support, we were successful,” said Carol Bishop, Co-Founder and current Executive Director of Kinship Center.

Kinship Center’s official anniversary was in September of 2019, but we will be celebrating all year round.

Every year, Kinship Center supports more than 1,500 children and their families through adoption, foster care, relative caregiver, and mental health services. For more information regarding Kinship Center’s 35-year anniversary, or to donate, visit or call (831) 455-4713.
