Guests “Pony Up” for Kids at Seneca Orange County’s Spring Soiree

Over 200 guests raise $75,000 in support of programs serving at-risk kids

Tustin, Calif. - May 3, 2014 - More than 200 guests donned cowboy boots and rhinestones at the Annual Seneca Orange County Spring Soiree at the Yorba Linda Country Club on May 3rd raising funds and awareness to benefit Seneca Orange County and the programs of Kinship Center and Canyon Acres serving abused and abandoned children.  The nonprofit will use the funds to enhance signature programs and expand services to meet the profound needs of children in Orange County with the scars of past abuse and trauma.  The event netted over $75,000 for the cause.

Guests kicked up their heels at this fun event with festivities including strolling dining, live music by country/rock band The Silverados, an interactive photo booth, hand-rolled cigars, a fabulous live auction and a $20,000 matching gift challenge.  Top auction items included one-of-a-kind experiences such as an LAPD Fly-Along, Angel Suite and a Concert and Dining experience.

The 2014 Children’s Champion Award was presented to Erin Lastinger and A. Gary Anderson Family Foundation for their generous support of Seneca Orange County’s Continuum of Care service platform including the programs at the Canyon Acres Ranch.  Major event sponsors included TROY Group, Inc. and A. Gary Anderson Family Foundation.  Additional sponsors included KMJ Corbin & Company, Snell & Wilmer LLP, Kenny the Printer, C.W. Industries Inc., and MConsensus.  Long-time agency supporter, Windell Stout, who served as MC for the night, garnered a big “Yee-Haw” from the boot-clad attendees as they cheered on the Hernandez Family who shared their heart-warming adoption story with the enraptured audience.  Leadership Board members Erin Lastinger and Marice White chaired the country-chic affair.

“We continue to be incredibly grateful to the corporate and individual donors who made this event possible,” stated Ken Berrick, CEO of Seneca Family of Agencies. “They are truly the Hearts behind the Mission of Seneca Orange County.  Funds raised will play a critical role in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable children and youth in our community.”
