Mark’s Story

Mark witnessed severe violence between his mother and stepfather, and was placed in emergency foster care and eventually adopted. He became increasingly disturbed and withdrawn and gradually stopped talking. His adoptive family was considering psychiatric hospitalization for Mark when they heard about Kinship Center and a special “Wraparound” program to keep the highest risk children out of institutions. A highly skilled Kinship Center Wraparound team worked with Mark’s family to provide the help they needed to address Mark’s issues and stabilize the adoption.
