Volunteer Opportunities

Partner with Kinship Center to positively impact the lives of children on the Central Coast.

Tutor

Tutors will meet with children either here at Kinship Center or in their home to assist with homework. The tutor can identify which subjects they are qualified to assist with.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and must have a background check.

Interested volunteers will:

  1. Complete an application and provide references
  2. Meet with a program director for a brief interview
  3. Complete a Live Scan fingerprint background check ($25.00 fee); click here for a list of Live Scan locations.

Community Liaison

Under the guidance and supervision of the Development Department, the Community Liaison will provide support in Kinship Center’s outreach efforts by attending community events as assigned.

Examples of duties:

  • Become familiar with what Kinship Center does/attend orientation meeting
  • Set up display and material at events
  • Provide to the community at various locations information on Kinship Center programs and services including foster care/adoption, relative caregiver support and our children’s mental health programs.

Crochet

When a child is adopted from Kinship Center, they receive a beautiful crocheted bear (like the ones pictured above). These bears are made by volunteers in the community, and we never have enough bears! If you'd like to crochet adoption bears for Kinship Center, click here to download the crochet instructions. You can also see the contact info below to request the crochet instructions via email, or for any questions or more info.

Other Opportunities

Kinship Center offers other occasional volunteer opportunities such as help with large mailings, coin rolling, help at special events, and more. We also have an auxiliary volunteer group, Kinship Support Unlimited (KSU) that hosts a variety of projects throughout the year benefiting Kinship Center. Some of these projects include selling wine at the Del Monte Shopping Center summer concert series, helping at Kinship Center's Donor appreciation event and holiday party at Seaside's Oldemeyer Center, organizing the toys and supplies in our basement, and more. To get in touch with KSU, please see the contact information below.
