Jorge’s Story

At age three, Jorge was abandoned and found wandering down a busy street at night. After six years and multiple moves in foster care, he has been adopted and is in treatment at a Kinship Center children’s clinic to address his traumatic losses. “I wish I was never born,” he whispers into the safe ear of a Kinship Center therapy dog. Jorge will talk only to the dog, and his therapist uses this to help him express his deepest feelings. Jorge is learning that the trust he saved for the dog can safely expand to others.
