Relative Care Services in Monterey County Located at: Relative Caregiver Support Program (“Family Ties”)
Comprehensive professional services are offered for relatives who have unexpectedly taken on the care of children. An assessment is performed to identify and coordinate the services needed by relative caregivers and the children in their care. Information and resources are provided, and collaboration with other agencies provides a comprehensive system of support. Adult support groups provide a forum for caregivers to learn, to exchange practical information, and to gain skills and confidence. A resource library is also available. Other services include legal assistance where guardianship is needed to establish permanency, peer support groups for children, recreation and low-cost family entertainment opportunities, and parent education. Referrals may be made for professional mental health counseling through Kinship Center’s D’Arrigo Children’s Clinic in Salinas. |
