Merger News: Canyon Acres Joins Kinship Center to Serve Most Vulnerable Children in Orange County

Canyon Acres Joins Strategic Partnership with Kinship Center and Seneca Center. 'Seneca Family of Agencies' brings comprehensive services to children and families statewide.

Last July Kinship Center announced a merger with Seneca Center, a widely respected 27-year-old child and family agency, to form Seneca Family of Agencies. On March 1, 2012, Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a longstanding Orange County nonprofit, joined the partnership.

The unifying of these three agencies is based on a shared mission and rich history serving the community.  Founded in 1985, Seneca Center for Children and Families is a leading innovator in the field of community, school, and family-based service options for severely emotionally troubled children and their families. Since 1984 Kinship Center has helped build and strengthen families for thousands of children through family-centered education, training, and tools for success in dealing with the complex issues surrounding adoption, foster care, and kinship care. And Canyon Acres Children and Family Services has a 31-year history of serving children throughout Southern California, providing the highest level of care and therapeutic treatment to children who suffer from a variety of emotional and psychological disorders. The programs and services of Canyon Acres will be delivered through Kinship Center, at several Orange County sites, including the Canyon Acres Ranch in Anaheim Hills.

Kinship Center, Seneca Center and Canyon Acres have known and trusted each other and have worked together for 20 years. This formal partnership among these three agencies, including two with statewide reach, will foster integrated programs that will improve and protect crucial services in Orange County and around the state. In the current economic climate it has become increasingly clear that one organization cannot address all the needs facing our communities, and that strategic collaboration is the only way to provide the full array of services that children need to heal and thrive. The joining of these three organizations as Seneca Family of Agencies creates one of the most comprehensive service systems for children in California.
