More than 60 volunteers participated in a “Community Build Day” at the Canyon Acres Ranch on June 23 & 24...

...completing phase one of a year-long renovation project in conjunction with the Irvine Company of Newport Beach.The project will refurbish and equip the Anaheim Hills facility to accommodate a variety of therapeutic programs for children with backgrounds of abuse or trauma.

This spring, Irvine Company announced their philanthropic plans to partner with Kinship Center and Canyon Acres to support the revitalization of the 4.6-acre property, which originally functioned as a group home residence until closure of the residential program in 2008.

As the result of a recent merger of Kinship Center and Canyon Acres, the property serves as an outpatient mental health facility for Kinship Center and Canyon Acres programs, including individual and group therapy, a therapeutic After-School Program for children ages 6-12 and a premiere accredited Equine Psychotherapy Program.

The renovation will include remodeling existing structures and extensive landscaping and will be completed in phases.  In Phase One, volunteers began the demolition and remodeling process of a former group residence; future phases will include converting the main house into a home environment, removing and replanting trees and shrubs, and repairing other existing structures on the property. The estimated underwriting value of the total renovation project exceeds $200,000!
