Celebrity Boxing Raises Funds for Kids
Kinship Center News
Salinas-based boxing school Garcia Boxing, owned by Kathy and Max Garcia, shown here, hosted a dinner and celebrity boxing exhibition fundraiser for Kinship Center's "Family Ties" relative caregiver program on March 8 at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey.

More than 300 guests, including some of the program's relative caregivers and their children, enjoyed an evening that included appearances by a host of California celebrities taking on IBF Featherweight World Champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero, CA Jr. Welterweight Champion Jesus "Chuy" Rodriguez, and other professionals. Surprise special appearances included former Heavyweight World Champion Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe and Trainer of the Year Jack Mosley. The event raised almost $20,000 to help Kinship Center's Family Ties program provide critical assistance to relatives unexpectedly caring for children with backgrounds of abuse, neglect or abandonment.
